Hilda and Paul Monaghan's Tweedsmuir Clumber Spaniels are
bred for temperament, type and quality.
We have achieved many awards for Top Stud Dog, Top Sire,
Top Brood Bitch and Top Puppy and were delighted to be the Top
Breeders over a number of years (1997 to 2010), along with being
the Winners of the Grand Final Breeders Team at Crufts in 2011.

We purchased our first Clumber in 1980 -
Topvalley
Charlie of Belcrum - on the condition he was shown. We went
to training classes and the "show bug" got us.
Charlie became a Full Champion at the age of 7 ˝ and amassed
many awards. He passed away at the grand old age of 17˝.
In 1984, we got our first bitch, Belcrum Beautiful
Dreamer (we called her "Tweed") who became the
foundation bitch for the Tweedsmuir Kennel. Although she
never claimed her title, she did gain 2 CCs and many Reserve
CCs. She passed away at the age of 15 years.
She was mated to Humberfield Justin Thyme of Oakring in
1986 and produced 6 puppies. We kept a dog, Tweedsmuir
True Blue who went on to be Best of Breed at Crufts (1989), a UK
Show Champion. He was then exported to the USA in 1991.
Her second litter, to
Raycroft Shaun, produced 6 puppies, of which one became a Show
Champion.

Her last litter, to Sh Ch Raycroft Silvino, produced 4
puppies, of which we kept a dog,
Tweedsmuir
Top Gun - he gained his title as a Show Champion and was
also Top Clumber Spaniel Puppy in 1991 and Top Clumber Dog in
1993 (he was also the Top Clumber Spaniel Stud Dog for 3 years
in a row).
We then bought a bitch in, Marchlands Jazzin It Up At
Tweedsmuir. She was mated to Sh Ch Raycroft Silvino and
presented us with 11 puppies, of which 9 survived. We kept
a bitch,
Tweedsmuir Tanzy (Ice) who,
along with her brother Tobermory, became a Show Champion.
Ice was mated to Top Gun and her first litter produced 7
pups, of which 3 became Show Champions. We kept a bitch,
Tweedsmuir
High Society (Haley).
She gained her title as a Show
Champion at Crufts at the age of 18 months, and took Best of
Breed. A bitch from her second litter was exported to
South Africa. We kept a bitch from Ice's third litter -
Tweedsmuir
Sweet Briar, who also gained her title at the age of
17 ˝ months and was Best of Breed at Crufts in 2002 and Best
Opposite Sex at Crufts the following year.
Haley was mated and we kept a dog,
Tweedsmuir
Fly The Flag - he was Top Stud Dog in 2002 and 2003, and Top
Sire in 1998/99. He is also the sire of 4 champions.
From her next litter, we kept a bitch, but because
we had already kept Briar from Ice's litter, we decided to let a
friend have her to show. She gained her Show Champion
title - a dog from this litter was exported to the USA, where he
gained his title at the age of 17 ˝ months.
Briar was mated and, from her first litter, we kept a
dog,
Top Gunner (Thomas).
Thomas, pictured
here, gained his title at the age of 15
months and is the youngest
UK Clumber Spaniel Champion dog and
was the first Clumber to
gain his Junior Warrant under the new Kennel
Club scheme. His brother was exported to
Australia
were he is already siring quality stock.
Thomas was Best of Breed at
Crufts in 2005 and Top Dog in 2005 and 2007 |

Tweedsmuir Solitaire,
a full sister to Briar from a later litter, has
just produced her first litter to South African import Nonsuch
Café au Lait and
their puppies are already winning well.
Sh Ch Tweedsmuir White
Hunter ("Dudley") won a Reserve CC at the age of 8
˝ months and gained 7 best puppy awards; his 2 sisters
are also winning top honours.
Dudley was the Top Sire in 2006 and Top Stud Dog 2006, 2007 and
2008
Nonsuch Cappuchino ("Gucci"), a South African
import, was mated to Thomas and made a
show debut in 2004.
